Hello… my name is Tony van de Vusse. I was a bright-eyed physics graduate 30 years ago and studied under some of the big names in physics. But I changed direction for financial reasons and made a successful career elsewhere.
Now I have the time to relook at the big questions in physics. I’m impressed by the explosion in data from space based telescopes. But I’m not impressed by modern cosmology. Frankly I think it has dug itself into a hole. Something’s gone wrong.
It’s time to rewind about a hundred years and recheck the thinking and logic that has led to where we are today – a world where somehow about 95% of the Universe is missing and cannot be found. A world in which many of the most fundamental questions in physics are still unanswered.
I intend to provoke questions and ideas but within reason. I have a brace of Masters Degrees and a long track record of successes. I am fortunate in that I have an open, questioning, sceptical mind; I’ve not been educated into submission by conventional wisdom; I have a creative, lateral thinking streak, and I recognise the importance of experiment and the scientific method.
These essays have been a lot of fun. They contain some science history, my attempts at explaining some complicated stuff simply, plus a variety of insights, questions and ideas. Some of it is semi-serious. But it is also possible that some of the ideas have serious merit. What I hope is that someone who reads these essays might be inspired to question and ponder some of the more fundamental questions in physics and come up with new insights, or even a bold new theory.
At the very least I hope that others might enjoy my writing. I’ve enjoying writing it. Thank you.
